Jacob Bartmann
In his theoretical and artistic explorations, Jacob Bartmann (*1995) is concerned with questions of living spaces, practices of living together and their aesthetics. Bartmann is involved in art education and urban design. His artistic works deal, for example, with the visibility of labour in relation to the brickworkers of 19th-century Vienna.
Bartmann’s adapt terrakotta and Rohrsysteme are reminiscent of industrial production, of sewage pipes or perforated bricks. In his installations he combines his body with different material identities, places and objects, thereby creating images that oscillate between the spatial and the social. Images that hold like vessels, conduct like pipes and translate like language.
Jacob Bartmann is an artist, ceramicist and art educator.
He lives and works in Vienna and studies art and education and design in context at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien.
