Patrick Mougeot is a French painter who, in his paintings, deconstructs the over-idealised classical image of the human being. The idea of a “core self” that remains constant over time is an illusion; rather, the human being is in a constant state of metamorphosis. The raw paint material and the visually palpable rupture of the picture body also play a decisive role in his pictures. Patrick Mougeot is a lecturer at various art academies.
